Dr. Lee (formerly Dr. Prinz,) is from Inver Grove Heights, MN. She attended St. Olaf College where she studied pre-veterinary medicine and majored in music. She enjoyed veterinary school at Ross University, located on an island in the West Indies. Sanibel Island kept Christy busy for 1 year where she was an intern at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (C.R.O.W.). She has been with VCA since the summer of 2007. Though her travels have taken her across the US and to many other countries, she finds herself happiest in Minnesota. During her free time she focuses on her husband, Derek, her musical studies, working out, and of course enjoys her cats Nala, Baby, Lily and O.J.! (One should never settle for a solo cat..)
Dr. Blake is pictured with her two "kids," Ginger and Lucy. She loves taking them for long walks and playing fetch for hours! She enjoys camping and going for hikes in the woods. Dr. Blake also loves to travel and has hiked the Inca Trail in Peru, saw wild macaws and peccaries in the Amazon, penguins and whales in Argentina, toucans in Brazil, and worked with elephants and other species in Africa. She has also worked on lions, tigers and other big cats at The Wildcat Sanctuary here in Minnesota where she is on the Board of Directors. Dr. Blake grew up in the Chicago area and attended Augustana College before coming to Minnesota for vet school. She has been at VCA Cedar Animal Hospital since 2004 and loves the challenge of working with all the different species. She became certified in acupuncture to have another "tool" in her arsenal to help pets with pain and other conditions. She loves to learn and is constantly expanding her knowledge of new procedures that could be of help to our furry, feathered, and scaly friends!.
Dr. Burrill was born in Canada but grew up in Massachusetts. She attended Wellesley College before moving to Minnesota for veterinary school. Following graduation, she completed a year long internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Michigan State University. Dr. Burrill has been with this hospital since July 1993. She is married and has three young children as well as a dog named Grace and a cockatoo Rajah. She enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, reading, traveling, and camping.
Dr. Ashley Smit comes to Minnesota from the great state of Kansas. She attended Kansas State University for undergrad, studying biology, music and Spanish. She continued at KSU for veterinary school and will always be a Wildcat at heart! She joined the VCA family in 2012, completing a one year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA Veterinary Care in Albuquerque, New Mwxico. In her free time Dr. Smit loves being outdoors with her black lab Gus, swimming, hiking, and listening to live music. Dr. Smit also loves to travel, having lived in Spain and backpacked around Central America. She is excited to call south Minneapolis home and looks forward to serving the furry, feathered, and scaled and their families at VCA Cedar.
